hooray! New Studio!

At last after 7 years of waiting I’ve got a new studio ! Can’t wait to have most of my stuff out of the house and my loom saved from the garden!!

Not quite sure how I’m going to afford it but I’ll just have to chase those potential commissions! ( I have a few) tapestry portaits in the potential pipe line!

Any way I’d better get on…

 just desperate to tell you!

Birthday present

Its my nephew Lyles birthday in a few days and I got him one of these as part of it , great aren’t they?

I will get him some toy cars as well as he’ll only be 5 and may not appreciate the finer things in life like golden syrup!

Today I went to the local Church Bazaar and apart from getting some good things for christmas presents I was invited into the main church building to see my grandfathers windows. He has some gorgeous small windows in St johns Renfield Church which are like little jewels of colour in the big expanse of the building. Grandpa was an elder of the church and I did go there with him on sundays when I was little.
Seeing the with all the little details he was well known for -whizzed me back in time to sitting in his studio -usually listening to motzart – while he sat next to the gas fire diligently painting the tiniest details onto each piece of glass……….then the glass would be fired and would have to be sorted in numerical order in order to be leaded..this was often my job when I was there… He’d say “Emma I have a wee job for you on the other table” I’d look over and there would be trays and trays of glass sitting waiting to be ordered….There would be some empty trays with labels saying numbers 1- 107/ 108-297/298-403/404-561 etc and each piece of glass had a little number scratched on at the edge…. So I would do that for a bit while grandpa would tell me stories of his childhood or bad jokes.
I could only find this image as an example of his work on line…this isn’t from St Johns Renfield its from Dundonald.

fingers crossed!

got someone to come and see my machine on friday to tell me whether it is worth being fixed or not… still can’t believe it… was a wedding present 4 yrs ago …stayed in its box unopened til feb and  motor has given up already! So of course is out of guarantee, warranty etc….

Gosh I’d better sell some scarves at this craft fair on sat! I’ll need the money for a new sewing machine if its un fixable! Fingers crossed!

the sky is falling!

My computer went down my sewing machine has bust! – it feels like the sky is falling on my head!

on a positive note I phoned Invercottage and they definately are going to place an order for their exclusive Maclachlan tartan scarves in Jan so that is positive! Also  Maison Cadeaux is going to take some sale or return! Things are going up and down here! I really felt as if I had my arms cut off when the server was down though!

I got some black watch tartan at a good price so I was going to make a black watch check scarf for Saturdays craft fair – I’ll have to see if I can borrow some one elses machine!

The craft fair I am doing is ‘Made in the Shade’ at the light house GlaSGOW 10.30 til 5.30 this sat 25th of October.

I just love these!!!!!!

Today I listed 4 new wraps into my jemmajo shop, only to find that my mind went blank and I couldn’t think of good appealing titles for them! I’ve listed them under colourway in hope!

Must be the stress of this week………..

Remember if you have any small pieces of fabric you would like  to be accented on to a fine cashmere wrap just convo me at my shop on etsy…..I’d be happy to oblige……….

New colourways! and a wee tribute….

These scarves are all new, the tan and purple one are already in my jemmajo shop – the tan one at a sale price because of a slight discolouration of the scarf – hardly noticable when being worn…..

Today had sad news that one the biggest influences of my life has died and I just want to say a wee tribute to our wonderful bright and sparky artistic friend – who influenced me into artschool – Sheila MacIntyre of Inverary Argyll  will be very much missed……
